It has been over a year since I have posted and oh boy has alot happened. My husband got out of the Navy and we have moved back to Washington. We have been home for a year now and it has been a crazy one! I have a job that I love, with people that I love and have been spending time with my family. I haven't been crafting as much because I haven't had that much time but I am starting back up and wanted to post my current project today!<br />
<br />
I put together a little layout of my husband and I from May 2012 after he got home from deployment. I loved the pictures and got inspired looking at some sketches online that helped me throw this thing together. <br />

I have been crafting and organizing my apartment after my roommate moved out this past week but now I am motivated to start posting a lot more on my blog. Yesterday I sat down and from start to finish made a small mat with stones covering it. I have seen them made before as spa mats but I had another plan for mine. I am not sure if I have ever mentioned before that I live in a small apartment. Small. I mean 700 square feet kind of small and when you have an apartment that small you don't generally have a lot of extra space for things like closets and places to put your shoes. So, I made my spa mat to sit under the bench at the top of my stairs to set my shoes on so my carpet stays clean. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYe0i_tepXh6MdFwmHF_jDsFguHJAPVUH0s5KKG2Mj1Y2F7uWsSt2MeBvZkKTx7NgmBR2X457MDI1_KdQYe_wyyySFrXXlMC1IIDCfIjRiWVFThRtkdB67w1Ki02c43w3bxekC6KBlL6A/s1600/shoe+mat.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYe0i_tepXh6MdFwmHF_jDsFguHJAPVUH0s5KKG2Mj1Y2F7uWsSt2MeBvZkKTx7NgmBR2X457MDI1_KdQYe_wyyySFrXXlMC1IIDCfIjRiWVFThRtkdB67w1Ki02c43w3bxekC6KBlL6A/s400/shoe+mat.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>To make this I bought a place mat and bags of stones at Walmart. I simply glued down each stone with hot glue and then put a coat or polycrylic on top so the whole thing was shiny. I think it turned out pretty cool. Let me know what you think!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-87554143870643892812012-03-11T21:28:00.000-07:002012-03-11T21:28:39.204-07:00Hexagons!Last Saturday I had a friend call me later in the afternoon to ask me if I could watch her babies that night while her and her husband went on a date night. I said "of course," but was a little sad because I had planned on crafting that night. I then decided that it would be a perfect time to get together my fabric that I got to buy for one of my Christmas gifts and washed and ironed it all. When I got to their house the kids were in a bed so I had the whole night to start my new hexagon quilt. I am using the english paper piecing method and it is so much fun! I have finished a little pile of the hexagons and even put together a flower out of one of them just to see what it would be like to sew them all together. This project is perfect for busy work to do in front of the tv (or sitting at a friends house keeping an eye on the kiddos). Here is a sneak peek at what I have done so far. The fabric is Lakehouse Annie's Farm Stand. <br />

I found a few good plants at Home Depot and found a perfect little glass owl in the garden section at Target! They also had a little gnome but his metal stake would not budge without heavy tools so I went with the glass owl which was more fitting for where I want to put the terrarium anyways! Let me know what you think : )</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEkV1TEJEFT6f_Rnt1Rm9IaK2FmsMyjPjep5Ew5HLJRav2TsRqI0ZTyNS0Rwe0CMc_Bes5IEQ3CrEdzv6WS01_I1ZWibOOaXOA9WDYfjiCzMpMBs3fleOvY9T6Wf4wmxzI1Zj1Ff5mQis/s1600/owl+terrarium+copy+picnik.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEkV1TEJEFT6f_Rnt1Rm9IaK2FmsMyjPjep5Ew5HLJRav2TsRqI0ZTyNS0Rwe0CMc_Bes5IEQ3CrEdzv6WS01_I1ZWibOOaXOA9WDYfjiCzMpMBs3fleOvY9T6Wf4wmxzI1Zj1Ff5mQis/s320/owl+terrarium+copy+picnik.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

I refashioned a few sweatshirts I found at the thrift stores and made a couple bracelets. I even went and bought more supplies to make more bracelets. I still need to take pics of my thriftstore finds to post and then I will also post pictures of my current projects!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-30618291234400621302012-02-10T17:24:00.001-08:002012-02-23T17:44:20.434-08:00Thrift Store MadnessMy friend and I went on a thrift store shopping spree day today and hit the jackpot! We went to our normal thrift store and also tried the local salvation army and the local DAV. Not only did we find a ton of clothes to alter (which is why we went in the first place) but I bought an old Samsonite suitcase to redo! I have a few things to do tonight and then I plan on taking before pictures of all of my cool finds! Hope everyone is having a great Friday!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-36997514300305539762012-02-07T17:30:00.001-08:002012-02-23T17:44:39.242-08:00Another Valentine's Idea for My HubbyI was looking through all of the Valentine's candy the other day and came up with a cute idea to send to my husband in his box. I decided to buy enough bags of Hershey's hugs and Hershey's kisses so he would have a hug and a kiss for every day he is going to be gone. It came out to be about three bags each. I found cute little Valentine's boxes at Walmart to put them all in and then made little picture tags to go on them over at picnik.com. <br />

Since Justin left, my first project was to get his Valentine's box. I decided to make him a little card mini (52 reasons I love you) that I saw on Pinterest. Here is my version. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaNvZy4Xdrl2M16ak2NvznhpzBGjivnPx20pmPQg1uAYFWAvrXt8lD3NBKiQjmrWvuS4QzL61qzy9x5Em_Dk-U27BD0f9AbdRj5vijbc2V9T2Ym1yyxqGxgbWGd-CggyiGMwcHb8qbGcY/s1600/Title+Picture" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaNvZy4Xdrl2M16ak2NvznhpzBGjivnPx20pmPQg1uAYFWAvrXt8lD3NBKiQjmrWvuS4QzL61qzy9x5Em_Dk-U27BD0f9AbdRj5vijbc2V9T2Ym1yyxqGxgbWGd-CggyiGMwcHb8qbGcY/s320/Title+Picture" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzxrmg4E3q5HWiCEE-ippZjtt7llMXyba491G0eZ13gncEaJZoLo1f2gg_E2a1fHHq7N-IhQSeTFwqIl-QvAtPFMVaZjKr8JsOzQJBWIww8wk74Os76tx4yvQq5eROQKjFjcerzd7xyTA/s1600/Picnik+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="267" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzxrmg4E3q5HWiCEE-ippZjtt7llMXyba491G0eZ13gncEaJZoLo1f2gg_E2a1fHHq7N-IhQSeTFwqIl-QvAtPFMVaZjKr8JsOzQJBWIww8wk74Os76tx4yvQq5eROQKjFjcerzd7xyTA/s320/Picnik+collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>I decided I wanted to add a few pictures to mine so I pulled together a few of my favorites and printed them out on cardstock. I decorated each picture with some cut out hearts, patterned paper, and stickles. When that was done I modpodged over all of them. Each card and picture was distressed with Tim Holtz distress inks (antique linen and brushed corduroy). Let me know what you think!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-10416364246596662942012-01-22T00:23:00.001-08:002012-02-23T17:45:47.328-08:00What I Am Up ToSorry I haven't been posting lately but I have been spending time with my hubby because he leaves Monday morning on a six month deployment. I have been working on a few crafty things though and as soon as I finish them up I will be posting new pics! Until then, I have some snuggle time that I need to soak up while I can!Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-27482716368592229202012-01-09T17:58:00.001-08:002012-02-23T17:46:08.676-08:00What I Have Been Up To<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyuKyLCxnTo32ldEMeO7ZU9ohyXYutypOJlo1aSwOhx-M3npuwQGxYQPD1aDpCI5xhLJpCq2nZC3-c77oq43RymZVNDv5pFpw17X1P4hebj3UtgcOIufHlE_bi8B8q-zIRG7BqX2w4FAw/s1600/IMG_1543.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="221" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyuKyLCxnTo32ldEMeO7ZU9ohyXYutypOJlo1aSwOhx-M3npuwQGxYQPD1aDpCI5xhLJpCq2nZC3-c77oq43RymZVNDv5pFpw17X1P4hebj3UtgcOIufHlE_bi8B8q-zIRG7BqX2w4FAw/s320/IMG_1543.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="border: currentColor;">I have been working on purging and getting rid of some clutter in my crafty area since I no longer have a crafty room : (. My second project (my first was using up some scraps on a few cards) was to take all of my crafting magazines and cut out anything that I found inspiring in them. I cut out any layouts, sketches, cards, minis, tags, and other paper crafts that I liked. I tossed the leftovers and organized all of these pieces in a folder that I have. My next step is to make a sort of inspirational/idea smash book. I am not sure how I want to do this yet so I am looking around online for a few ideas first. Now I have a whole cube box to organize other crafty supplies in.......</div><div class="separator" style="border: currentColor; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Qw39ZWnzhnOL9DhJgdTNsqTUf_0ECWz1LrBWAubGqi9edU3BDhnYSW58dQVmVRdGgHMRNr791fIMKNs0kE2LlAN5aIdpSnHj2o4zxPBzUpBRjPdQWDhepxHRbmNl1Y46bacmgks4Jkw/s1600/IMG_1547.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="261" rea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Qw39ZWnzhnOL9DhJgdTNsqTUf_0ECWz1LrBWAubGqi9edU3BDhnYSW58dQVmVRdGgHMRNr791fIMKNs0kE2LlAN5aIdpSnHj2o4zxPBzUpBRjPdQWDhepxHRbmNl1Y46bacmgks4Jkw/s320/IMG_1547.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border: currentColor; clear: both; text-align: left;">that is when Avah decides to get out of it! I like making cards when I'm not under pressure to get them done right away so I figure this is a good way to avoid procrastinating and then ending up buying really expensive cards. I saw a card like this on pinterest <a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/97390410661618091/" target="_blank">here</a>. I thought it would be a good way to get rid of a lot of my scrap paper. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ORmd_P_z961Frlo1FugbPG9vc0BwQQdIc8eN3pmYSQbV-2AZY9IRT64RvwTkbcCcdp9nQGqK9UXLOjDpTwuHgHI_RGoFA5roMNPVlThPvZcjOpygnJRzERf29HkGdeoByx1Rr1Pv7ns/s1600/heart+card_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="242" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ORmd_P_z961Frlo1FugbPG9vc0BwQQdIc8eN3pmYSQbV-2AZY9IRT64RvwTkbcCcdp9nQGqK9UXLOjDpTwuHgHI_RGoFA5roMNPVlThPvZcjOpygnJRzERf29HkGdeoByx1Rr1Pv7ns/s320/heart+card_edited-1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Now I'm off to make a bunch more of these. Let me know what you think! </div>Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-16736834368824942512012-01-04T18:03:00.001-08:002012-02-23T17:46:47.410-08:00Happy New Year!I know that I have been missing in action but the holidays were crazy busy here! We had a friend move in with us so I had to move my scrapbook room out of our spare bedroom a couple days before my husband and I flew back to Washington for Christmas. I also decided that I was going to make a mini album for my sister for Christmas. Her boyfriend and her bought a house a few years back that they have been renovating so she wanted a way to show off her pictures of the journey along the way. I made the album out of Simple Stories Generations line because her house is in the same colors as that paper line. Here are the pictures I took of the finished album (without her pictures).<br />

I realize that these pictures are pretty terrible. I also want to find a place to make better photo collages. If you have any tips, please feel free to let me know! <br />

I worked on a Christmas vignette all night long and then went out today to buy a few things that I needed to finish it up. I love how it turned out!<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The holly paper is from the new Authentique Christmas line and the music notes are from an old Teresa Collins Christmas line. I used random white buttons on the roof and covered them with glossy effects and martha stewart crystal glitter. I really love how it all turned out! Tomorrow we are making gingerbread men. Can't wait!</div><br />

I want to take at least one picture every day in December. Once the month is up I will put them all into a mini album. I didn't exactly have anything Christmas-y planned for today and I had already put up our tree on Thanksgiving so I just snapped a few shots of Avah admiring the tree. She looks cranky in all of the pictures but they turned out pretty good. <br />

</tbody></table>I will try and do something a little more creative for my December 2nd picture. This weekend I want to convince my husband and his friend to make gingerbread men with me. We will see how that goes! : )Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6597476677984575425.post-28838593959703121472011-11-29T18:33:00.001-08:002012-02-23T17:47:44.369-08:00Deck the HallsHey! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I did! I made dinner and we had a few of Justin's coworkers over and just hung out and had a good time. I spent all weekend slowly decorating and putting up our tree. After I finish class this week I will be able to start creating much more! Here is a peek at our tree : )<br />

We are having a few people over for Thanksgiving this year and I wanted to make a few things to decorate. <a href="http://www.twigandthistle.com/blog/2010/10/page/2/" target="_blank">These</a> little glitter pumpkins were perfect! <br />
So, I was on a mission to find little foam pumpkins about three days after Halloween. Michaels was fresh out so I thought that maybe Walmart would have some fall garlands with little pumpkins. They didn't need to be well done because I was covering them with glitter. Not only did they have little pumpkins, but whole packs of them for only four bucks. They also had really small ones for two dollars. My Walmart also just got a gstudio section with all of the ninety seven cent glitter and stamps. I found great four packs of fall colored glitter and when we went to check up they were 75% off! I was able to pull together ten packs so now I am going to make a few sets of these for some friends.<br />
I don't have a drill like in the above tutorial but I didn't need one at all. The foam of these pumpkins was very easy to work with. I just pressed the tea lite plastic candle holders down into the foam and cut a perfect size and shape hole for the candles. I used Elmer's spray craft bond which worked perfectly! These were really fun to make and now I think I will find other things to cover in glitter. <br />
TFL!<br />

I would like to welcome everyone and anyone that has stumbled upon me. This is my first attempt at a blog and I hope that everyone will bare with my while I try and figure this whole thing out. </div><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-indent: 0.5in;">Just a little about me before I begin; I am a Navy wife living in Virginia far away from my home state of Washington. My husband and I have two lovely fur babies, Avah and Jack. I love any and all things crafty, especially scrapbooking. I want this blogging experience to be about the things that I create, the things that I love, and everything in between. </div><br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; text-indent: 0.5in;">I am about to embark on yet another journey while my husband is deployed (again) for six months. This will be the longest deployment that I have done on my own so far away from family, so I want to fill my time with creating and hopefully making new friends from this blogging experience. </div>Heatherhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14330118268401125420noreply@blogger.com2
